Who would you want on your team?
As you know, Tiger Woods has been struggling a bit on the golf course. In fact, he has never played worse. Yet Presidents Cup Team Captain Fred Couples just used a captains pick to put Tiger on the squad. This event is akin to the Ryder Cup but in this one the US plays against the rest of the world not just Europe.
A recent web survey of 3434 people indicated some interesting results.
23% would put him on the team without even thinking about it.
17% would pick him early but not make it a lock like the first 23%
10% would wait and see how his game is shaping up
AND…drum roll please…..49% said pick the ones who earned it, who have played well. Not Tiger.
I tend to agree with the 49%. How often do we (you) allow someone to stay on long after they have shown themselves not able/willing to make a change? We often find a work around to make it OK but I can tell you this..work arounds never really work!
Would you put Tiger on your team? OK, let me make it a bit tougher. Last year at the Ryder Cup, when his game was still challenged, he won 3 of his 4 matches….but that was last year…
Back to you and not Tiger. Who on your team are you allowing to hang around although the performance simply isn’t there anymore. I am a BIG fan of loyalty but at some point loyalty to the team must trump loyalty to a person or to the memory of person.
