Oh Canada!!!

Was in Canada last week. It was cold…very cold…but that is not what I want to tell you.

I picked up a copy of the Globe and Mail which is their national paper. There were several item of interest and I have been carrying it for a week now. Yikes, been pretty busy.

  • A study found that students can overcome their anxiety on exams by simply spending ten minutes immediately before the exam writing about their fears. Students prone to jitters fared 10-15% better when using this technique. Essentially, it frees up brain space that had been worrying to now focus on the test. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..any application for leaders at work. I do think so. Help people get through anxiety and they perform better.
  • 67% of North American pet owners sleep with their pets.
  • There was a lengthy piece on body language. (it matters, but you already knew that…but what are you doing with that knowledge?)
  • Can forget the tidbit that GenYs may prefer praise over sex. More on that another time.
  • and the City of Windsor is looking for a fire chief.

Now I can throw out the paper.
