FEEDBACK – you should try some

Did some hard core executive development session two weeks ago. We use several assessments to help people understand themselves and how they are perceived. Skilled coaches work with them to interpret the results and to begin to make changes.

This is always one of the best sessions we do. Perhaps for the first time in a very long time these senior managers are getting feedback on their performance and they are grateful for it. They are also appreciative of a coach who works with them to improve.

Let’s be clear – all of the above is the job of the boss of these people and most bosses do a poor job of giving feedback and coaching for success. Bosses more often critique than coach. They only give feedback when things are bad. You get the idea, you see it every day…..

Communication, coaching, feedback, etc. A primary function of leadership.
