Convention Final
OK, I was supposed to post this on Tuesday. Sorry, things got real busy.
Two more great days at the Convention. Yesterday we heard from Steve Forbes and today from Cathie Black, President of Hearst and one of the 50 most powerful women in America. They both did a fine job and were thought provoking but the speech of the convention was delivered by Bill Strickland. Of course, you don’t know who he is but you should as he is making a profound difference in the lives of inner city youths. Check out his book, Making The Impossible Possible; One Man’s Crusade to Inspire Others to Dream Bigger and Achieve the Extraordinary.
In addition to the general session presentations I also attended many concurrent educational sessions and reconnected with many of my NSA buddies from across the country. I spent a few hours with my speaking coach working on a new presentation. Between the FireStarter team meeting last week and the convention, my brain is full. Full of ideas that will improve the business and deliver more value to our clients. I confess it would be easier to do nothing, business is great, but that is a recipe for failure and we will do the work to make it better.
When is the last time you attended a conference event or perhaps some training (maybe a FireStarter program) and what did you DO with the information? Attending training expands your mind and implementing what you learn makes you more valuable to your employer and your clients. Maybe you are too busy or not in a position to attend a convention, then read a book. You get the idea. What are you doing to be a better you tomorrow?
