Are you an Aaron Rodgers fan?
Full Disclosure first – (pity me) – I am a NY Giants football fan..with that said, I have become an Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers fan…Why? you might be wondering…
Well, the big reason is so many people were hanging on to Brett Favre as the ongoing (and declining in quality) quarterback of the Packers and badmouthing Rodgers before he even got a chance to make an impact. I am also a big fan of loyalty. However, loyalty to a fault is not good. I have seen Presidents and Project Managers retain their jobs long after their effectiveness had declined below acceptable. I understand that loyalty and respect it to some degree. But at some point, as in Green Bay, and that point may be sooner rather than later, you have to move on. Green Bay did, the move was very unpopular, and they won another Super Bowl. Favre did go on to play well with the Vikings (was that after the Jets fiasco) and credit to him but the Pack had moved on.
Are you hanging on to people that need to go? In this economy did you make the easy cut and do it by years of service or did you retain some young guns?
Another reason I like Rodgers is nobody expected much from him in college. In fact, because of his size at the time (5’10” and 165) only one division one school (Illinois) recruited him. He actually went to a Junior College first and played well there. He also grew. And because his SAT score was 1300 he was able to transfer to division one. He went to University of California at Berkeley. Not exactly a football powerhouse but he played well enough to enter the NFL draft after his junior year and the rest, as they say, is history.
The sure thing isn’t always sure! Rodgers was bypassed by many teams who went for the sure thing..However, Rodgers is smart, worked hard, and got his chance. Who do you have that fits that description that needs to get a chance?
"I have received so many very positive comments about your workshop. Most importantly, the evaluations and the one-on-one feedback indicate that the participants picked up information and tips that they plan to apply both in their business and in their chapters."
