Just when you thought you knew T-Rex (and other assumptions)

Pop quiz  – Who discovered America? What does T-Rex hunt?

Traditional answers are Columbus and other dinosaurs. Although you know differently those first answers may have come to mind before you caught yourself. Today I read that the mighty T-Rex may be more like a scavenging hyena than a mighty lion. They base this on the number of animals and the proportion of hunters to scavengers to grazers in the Serengeti of Africa today. Wow, smart people….

Of course, you are smart too. However, are you going out of your way to count the T-Rex population in your life and business? What I mean by that is you live your life and run your business based on a series of assumptions. Some of these assumptions are tried and true and on target accurate. Some of them, as with T-Rex, are tried and untrue and off target. Continuing to buy into these faulty assumptions is costing you in one way or another.

That will never work here….that is not in the budget….we tried that here once…I can’t do that…..I would be better if…………My employees act like children, I am just a babysitter…etc etc etc…Pony Express…Kodak….newspapers….textbooks…..snail mail….fax machines….etc etc etc…

Where are the T-Rex’s in your world? Challenge your assumptions before the T-Rex pack feasts on your carcass.

good read. 🙂 and it reminds me of Rich Dad, Poor dad.

"Your business revolves around your asset column, as opposed to your income column. The rich focus on their asset columns while the poor and middle class focus on their income columns…Great opportunities are not seen with your eyes. They are seen with your mind." – Robert Kiyosaki

I know, quoting again…but my neurons are just are linking similar ideas. 🙂

Great comment Ash, thanks…A founder of a firm I worked for said "Volume Kills, Profit Thrills."

The question is – are we looking at the right things?
