D-Day, the sixth of June
OK, that was yesterday but you get the point.
The largest air and naval armada ever assembled. All with one purpose – to restore freedom and democracy to the European continent and preserve it for the United States.
Leadership was not in short supply on that date. From the strategic level where Eisenhower wrote two messages. One proclaiming success and the other, in which he said the responsibility was his and his alone, failure. When is the last time you saw a leader in our nation stand up and say, “blame me?”
Leadership was in force on the landing beaches on both sides of the line. Leaders stepped up and took action because that was what was required. They knew the plan (see Commanders Intent in No Yelling) and made it happen.
Oh yeah, colossal mistakes were made. Lives were lost but people persevered when they were led.
The economy stinks, I know, but what can you do TODAY to help your firm and your people. I can think of a bunch of things, you probably can too. Go do one.
