National Speakers Assn Carolinas Update

Today was our quarterly chapter meeting for our National Speakers Assn Chapter. I am the President of the Chapter right now and I invited my speaking coaching, Doug Stevenson (http://www.storytelling-in-business.com/) to speak to our group.

Wow. I was reminded how hard this business can be as he talked about crafting stories and making an impact, all things I do -but can do better. The challenge is to build the business, refine my craft, improve my golf game and be a good parent and husband. We can’t be all things to all people, especially ourselves.

However, I guess I am being something for the chapter as I was selected as Member of the Year. This is voted by the membership so it is nice recognition but it will not help me get more business. Doing the work that Doug reminded me about today will get me more work.

What work do you need to do to get better at your job? Do you sell? Have you attended a seminar or read a book on selling lately? What about your health? Is there some work to be done there? You get the idea.

Successful people usually aren’t luckier or more gifted than everyone else, they just do the work.
