Octuplet Leadership
OK, you have all seen the news. The lady in CA, who already had 6 kids, getting fertility treatment and having 8 more. She asserts that all the uproar is biased because she is not married. What about the fact that she doesn’t have a job either? Anyway, she goes on to say that she always wanted a big family. So, who did she do this for? It would appear that she did this for herself. This would make her motives, in my opionion, selfish. Lord knows how the kids will eat well, afford activities let alone college, etc etc.
In my early days of speaking I had a coach ask me why I told a particular story at a certain time in a speech. My answer was weak. Turned out I liked the story but it wasn’t really relevant to the section of the speech I was in. In other words, I told the story for me not for the audience.
As leaders we must be focused on self first. But once we get that taken care of we must shift our focus to the ones we would lead. Leaders are not selfish. In fact, the best ones are selfless.
"Unbelievable, surprising, entertaining… What a great example to have the speaker use actual comments from the President's monthly letter to the membership to drive home his point…"
