Moose Jaw

I was in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan the other day. The client was great. The weather was cold. Really cold. How cold was it? It was minus eighteen Fahrenheit. I returned to Raleigh to temps in the 40s and heard people say it was cold. COLD? C’mon. That is tropical compared to -18.

Everything is relative. No matter how cold you think it is, it is will be colder somewhere else. No matter how hot you think it is, it will be hotter somewhere else. No matter how bad you think you have it, someone else will have it worse. And no matter how good you think you have it, someone else will be better off. My knees ache. I treated them pretty rough over the years between sports and the Marines. I remind myself that at least I have knees. It is all relative.

It is important to be able to step back and look at this bigger picture from time to time. I am not telling you to simply suck it up. I am asking you to keep things in perspective. This ability is one of the keys to success and happiness.
