May you live all the days of your life

I wish I could take credit for that statement but the credit must go to 18th century Irish author Jonathan Swift. As we embark on a New Year his words serve as good guidance. We can be certain that the coming days of 2009 will be filled with highs and lows, with the commonplace and the uncommon, with the expected and the unexpected. We also know that the only thing we can control is ourselves and how we handle all these things. Swift would have us make the most out of every day. Rather than fill our days with fear and anguish, fill them with hope and energy. Rather than withdraw he would have us reach out. Living is about growth and optimism. Living is about being a positive force in the world, not a negative one. Living is about making a positive impact.
