72 hours
It wasn’t a plan or anything…it just worked out this way…
I went 72 hours this past weekend without turning on my computer. (OK, I knew what was in my email because I have my blackberry but I didn’t answer anything that way)……….and here is the amazing thing. My life, or civilization as we know it, did not come to an end because I was not online at some point. Consider me a beta test. Maybe you can do it too.
My computer is BIG part of my day. Emails, article writing, invoices, research etc etc are all part of any given day. However, this was a social weekend for me.
Friday – Golf with best friend followed by dinner out with his family who were staying with us this weekend.
Saturday – Golf in the afternoon, then friend family for dinner at our house. Watch Notre Dame vs Army
Sunday – Our USMC Birthday Open House (50 guests). Watch Giants at Eagles.
This is a very atypical weekend for me. Weekend golf is unusual. Watching a football game is unusual, watching two is unheard of. Of course, having 50 people over is a once a year thing.
And now on Monday I am tired. I have emails to answer, and I am glad I did it. We had a wonderful weekend and I am tired. But I would do it all again. 72 hours. What would you do if you turned off the computer for 72 hours?
Are you so consumed with work or with busyness that you are missing things? For 72 hours I missed nothing.
"Wally’s presentation was fast paced, engaging and right on target. His mix of personal adversity and success was inspiring to our management team. I’ve received countless accolades from my staff regarding Wally’s presentation. More importantly, Wally was able to incorporate our Corporate Values and Culture into his presentation. I would highly recommend Wally Adamchik and look forward to inviting him back for future presentations."
