Volcanic Ash

Did you see that a volcano in Iceland has disrupted air travel worldwide? Ash has caused London Heathrow (the worlds second busiest aiport) any many others in that area to close. This is the biggest disruption to travel since 9/11.

I can imagine the frustration and anger on the part of passengers. Talk about helpless! You are in England or Ireland – all the airports are closed. You want to get to the US. Maybe a ferry or chunnel to the mainland and a flight out of Paris or Milan? I dont know, I am sure I wouldnt be the only one what that idea but I guess if there is a will, and a need, there is a way. (cash helps)

The funny thing here is that as I started to write this I was thinking about a comment on being able to handle uncertainty or something along the lines of there are some things that are totally out of our control.

But as I wrote, thinking of being stranded in the UK, I realized one could still get to the mainland and have a chance, maybe a slim one, of getting a flight to the US. OK, I just checked, flights are available. It is a small, and pricey, window as the ash moves into continental Europe but it is possible.

The next time you dont see any options….maybe you need to look again or talk to others and get another point of view. There may be another option you are not seeing.

Of course, the ideal situation here is you are on vacation on some tropical beach and you get to stay there a few more days.
