The New World (cup) Order
Over the years I have commented that we do live in a vastly different world than the one we saw a generation ago. Globalization is real and it does impact our economy and your business.
The latest examples come from sports. The first round of the World Cup is still being played but some of the traditional powers are doing poorly. France is behind Uruguay and may not advance to the next round. Italy trails Paraguay and Spain has lost both games played. What kind of world do we live in when Ghana, Slovenia and even the United States are making a statement in soccer? A very different one. (by the way, what is the difference between Slovakia and Slovenia?)
The French came close yesterday in the US Open golf championship. Their guy came in second to a fellow from Northern Ireland. First time since 1970 a guy from the UK has won it.
Don’t throw out everything old but question it. Is what you are doing today relevant and effective in the world we live in or are you using outdated means and methods because they are familiar?
"I want to personally thank you for helping to make NJCUL’s Leadership Conference such a huge success. Your presentations were full of relevant information and very well received. From that first meeting in Baltimore last year, I knew you would be great – and you were!"
