Professional Background Checks. Who knew?

I had lunch today with my speaker friend Denise Ryan. She was joined by her friend Tracy Seabrook CAE (that stands for Certified Association Executive). Of course I am not telling you this to update you on my social life. It turns out Tracy, who I had never met, is the Director of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners. Here is the link to their site;

Even with high unemployment, as we have today, it is hard to find good people. I hear clients lament this everyday. When you do find a good candidate you are often too enamored or too busy to do a proper background check. The folks who belong to this association do that for you! Yes, I know you can do it yourself but do you do it well.

Their website is aimed at people who would be members of the association but it will give you some ideas about how serious these people are. The association started in 2003 and they will have nearly 1000 attendees at their national convention next year. They have a find a member section on their site. It might be worth checking it out. I know I would consider it.
