Demotivation

I have some ideas on leading people that I have proven in my own life and been validated by others. However, every so often it is nice to get confirmation of those ideas.

Today, I was reminded that most people really DO want to work. Sure, there are slackers everywhere but not as many as we might think. Actually, poor leadership and poor managers turn people into slackers. Today I had men complaining about not having the materials on site to do the job they are supposed to do. These well paid craftsmen were complaining about not working.

It isn’t the first time I have heard this and it will not be the last as long as poor managers are around. It doesn’t have to be you. Give your people the right information, equipment and materials to do their job. Don’t do this and you will demotivate them.
