Building Goodness
Just learned about a group of mostly construction professionals doing volunteer work to build things. Makes sense. This is like Habitat for Humanity on steroids. Certainly Habitat builds more homes than the Building Goodness group but these guys take on some tough projects too.
They work across the globe and you might be interested so here is the website…
I found out about them when I spoke at an annual meeting for a firm on Monday. This construction company is integrating service with this group into the supervisor development program. This supports its mission of improving communities.
What they may not have known, but they do now because I told them, is this is a best practice. The Great Place To Work Institute talks about creating pride and camaraderie. This activity is exactly the type of thing to help make those things happen. People feel good about working for a company that wants to make a positive impact (and supports) in the community.
Check them out. They might be doing work in your area or maybe the concept will resonate with you and you take action another way.
"Thanks so much for being with us... You clearly moved many folks and the commitment sheets that we are getting back are better than we had expected.... Thanks so much for the tremendous amount of effort that you put into the presentation. We fully realize what a valuable contribution this was. "
