Girls On The Run 5K

Girls On The Run is a non-profit group that helps girls age 8-12 develop self-esteem etc. Along the way they run and the program culminates with a 5K. It is a well-run and worthwhile program. My daughter participated the past few months and I was her running buddy on the final 5K this past Saturday.

Remember – I dont run anymore. My knees dont like it. But I worked up again, we ran minutes and we had a blast. What a great way to bond with your child!

She is already talking about doing another race. You may send your application for running buddy to the FireStarter Corporate address. I assure you it will be favorably reviewed!

GOTR is a national organization so there might be one near you. If you know a girl age 8-12 take a look.

By the way, we ran in 30 minutes (9, 11, 10 minute miles). Great feeling afterwards despite the numbness in my left arm and the dry heaves but nobody ever said being a running buddy was going to be easy. There were walking buddies and walking girls but not for team Adamchik. That just isnt how we do things.
