His new album is garbage. I only kept one song, Crossroads, and I think the only reason that sounded decent was because the rest were so terrible. I want to hear the Blues and Rock and Roll from him; until then he is just a waste of talent.
Hrm.....looking at that list, it must suck to have internet in the US. Here in the Netherlands:1: Nope, one tried it, they stopped after too many complaints reached the ombudsman2: Usually fairly accurate speedclaims. They make it look a bit nicer, but at least they are honest that the speed is "Up to ## Mbps" and rarely does it reach less than half that speed, usually around the 75% for DSL and 100% for cable.3: No targeted advertising with any provider except the free ones...and those don't exist anymore.4: Tapping is mandatory, even though some try to get out of it :(5: site-not-found = site-not-found. no ads or whatever6: no DPI whatsoever7: No packetspoofing/forging whatsoever8: No virusscanning at all but with some you can get a virusscanner on your PC for free9: No sneaky fees.10: Fast internet (25mbps over cable) is 25 euro. 40 dollars. Fast DSL is 20 euro (30 dollars). No limits, no caps, no whining about extra costs for extra MB's.I guess NL must be Internet-Heaven compared to the US....

“IMO, space flight is unlikely to have a sufficiently big return soon enough to justify the massive capital investment or huge risks to private sector investors without government incentivisation. However, in the very long run it will certainly provide huge benefits to society as a whole and all will benefit. I'd also argue that it's the kind of power that we may not want in the hands of a private corporation when the benefits finally are reaped, much like the military. In the same way sub-contracting is ok, but you want private companies developing new jets, not funding armies. This makes it an ideal candidate for government investment.

Instead of snark, I'd like to ask something genuinely: Is it your understanding that evolutionary theory would call for one species to give birth, in one generation, to a radically different species? In your example, you mention a finch giving birth to a cow... do you think this is an example of what evolutionary science believes to occur?

@s73v3r "Once a non-Neutral net takes hold, it will be much harder to go back to a Neutral one."Why will it be much harder? I actually think it will actually be easier. Rather than trying to make a law to combat something that doesn't even exist yet, we'd be making a law against something that was actually happening. The law could be tailored to the exact problems that arise. We wouldn't need to guess what the problems might be in the future."And just about everybody else would say that the free market has failed miserably with ISPs"I don't think that's true. I am quite happy with my internet service. It is blazing fast (over 1000 KBps) and only costs $40 per month."given that so many of them have monopoly status in their area."They don't have permanent monopolies. They are basically utility companies. Like SoCal Edison and SDGE. If they do not do a good enough job, they can be replaced. If they violate their contracts, they can be sued by the city. They must deal with some regulation just like ISPs do.I am not against ALL regulation. I am against Net Neutrality."Unless you count "competition" from dial-up ISPs, which I doubt anybody who uses the internet regularly would. "Most people in this country have access to at least 2 broadband ISPs. I have 3 broadband providers in my area (AT&T, Time Warner, Earthlink broadband).

Sounds like the severe weather siren from my town. Could scare the crap out of someone in a movie theater if you set that off. |
