Of course it makes sense; they're a foreign species and may completely disrupt the the pond. Kill everything, wait a while, then reintroduce native fish. It's the safest way to keep things from getting out of control and/or out of the pond. They did the same thing down the street from my house a few years ago when that whole Snakehead thing was happening. Even then it wasn't completely effective.?
